Gold Strike announces wealth of headline performers coming to Millennium Theatre

TUNICA RESORTS — Gold Strike Casino Resort has stepped up the entertainment as fall nears with an impressive line-up of headliners coming to the casino’s popular Millennium Theatre. The major acts will come to Gold Strike in rapid succession all the way through the month of December. Here is the scoop:
• The Boys in Concert
On Saturday, Sept. 4, see The Boys in Concert. The stars of Broadway’s Jersey Boys reunite to celebrate the music of an era that lights up every generation.
This show typically includes music from The Beach Boys, The Beatles, Motown to name a few and as one might imagine... The Four Seasons. As the Jersey Boys, they recorded a Grammy Award winning, platinum selling album, performed at Radio City Music Hall, Carnegie Hall, The U.S. Open, the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, the 62nd and 63rd Annual Tony Awards and The New York City Marathon. • Kenny G.
On Saturday, Sept. 18, see jazz great Kenny G. at Gold Strike. Kenny G. is a Grammy winning adult contemporary and smooth jazz saxophonist. His fourth album, Duotones, brought him breakthrough success in 1986. Kenny G is the biggest-selling instrumental musician of the modern era, with global sales totaling more than 75 million albums. Tickets are $49.95 plus tax.
• Merle Haggard
On Saturday, Sept. 25, see legendary country music star Merle Haggard. Haggard is more than a country music singer. He’s a guitarist, instrumentalist, and songwriter. Along with Buck Owens, Haggard and his band The Strangers helped create the Bakersfield Sound, which is characterized by the unique twang of Fender Telecaster guitars, vocal harmonies, and a rough edge not heard on the more polished Nashville Sound recordings of the same era.
By the 1970s, Haggard was aligned with the growing outlaw country movement, and has continued to release successful albums through the 1990s and into the 2000s. In 1997, Merle Haggard was inducted into the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame for his song “Okie from Muskogee”. Tickets are $59.95 plus tax and service charge.
• Four Tops/Temptations
On Saturday, Oct. 16, see the Four Tops and Temptations bring their huge hit collection and Motown-era sound to Tunica. Known for a long string of hits that helped define Motown, encompassing doo-wop, jazz, soul music, R&B, disco, adult contemporary, hard rock, and showtunes, the Four Tops and Temptations are American music icons. Tickets are $59.95 plus tax and service charge.
• Eddie Money
On Saturday, Oct. 30, see Eddie Money live in concert. Money first charted with singles such as “Baby Hold On” and “Two Tickets to Paradise.” He continued his successes and took advantage of the MTV music video scene in the early 1980s with his funny narrative videos for “Shakin’” and “Think I’m in Love,” and followed up with more hits, one in which featured a Ronnie Spector duet with “Take Me Home Tonight,” which reached the Top 10, along with the hit “I Wanna Go Back.” Money followed the album with another Top 10 hit, late 1988’s “Walk on Water,”followed by the No. 21 chart placement of “I’ll Get By” in 1992. • Chubby Checker
On Saturday, Nov. 6, Chubby Checker comes to Gold Strike. Checker is best known for popularizing the dance style “Twist” with his 1960 hit cover of Hank Ballard’s R&B hit “The Twist.” In September of 2008, “The Twist” topped Billboard’s list of the most popular singles to have appeared in the Hot 100 since its debut in 1958. Tickets to see Chubby Checker are $24.95 plus tax and service charge.
• Little Anthony
On Saturday, Nov. 27, see Little Anthony in concert at Gold Strike. Little Anthony of the rhythm and blues/soul/doo-wop vocal group from New York known as “Little Anthony and the Imperials” were first active in the 1950s. Lead singer Jerome Anthony “Little Anthony” Gourdine is noted for his high-pitched falsetto voice and is said to be influenced by Jimmy Scott. The group was announced as inductees to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on Jan. 14, 2009. They were inducted on April 4. Hits include “I’m On The Outside (Looking In)” (1964), “Goin’ Out Of My Head” (1964), “Hurt So Bad” (1965), “I Miss You So” (1965), “Take Me Back” (1965), “Hurt” (1966), and “Out of Sight, Out Of Mind,” to name a few. • Tanya Tucker
Tanya Tucker comes to Gold Strike on Saturday, Dec. 18. Tucker is a country music performer who had her first hit, “Delta Dawn,” in 1972 at the age of 13. Over the succeeding decades, Tucker became one of the few child performers to mature into adulthood without losing her audience, and during the course of her career, she logged a streak of Top 10 and Top 40 hits. She has produced a long string of successful albums, several nominations for awards from the Country Music Association, and hit songs that include 1973’s “What’s Your Mama’s Name?” and “Blood Red and Goin’ Down,” 1975’s “Lizzie and the Rainman,” and 1988’s “Strong Enough to Bend.” Tickets to see Tanya Tucker are $29.95 plus tax and service charge.
