Entertainer will perform at Gold Strike Friday, April 4

TUNICA RESORTS — Country music great Trisha Yearwood performs at Gold Strike Friday, April 4, at 9 p.m.
One of the highest-selling female artists in Country music history, and now a two-time New York Times best selling cookbook author, Trisha Yearwood has a habit of surpassing expectations.Case in point – while a student at Belmont University in Nashville, Trisha Yearwood worked as a tour guide at the Country Music Hall of Fame…10 million albums later, she now sits on the board.
Since her 1991 debut, Yearwood has recorded twelve albums, the most recent of which is Heaven, Heartache And the Power of Love.
The album earned her a 2008 Grammy nomination and caps off a hit-list of nine No. 1 songs and 20 Top Ten hits under her belt, including “She’s in Love With the Boy,” “Walkaway Joe,” and “How Do I Live.”

In addition to three Grammy Awards, the Grand Ole Opry member is a three-time Country Music Award winner and a two-time Academy of Country Music Award winner. She has been honored with an American Music Award, a Pollstar Concert Industry Award and was inducted into the Georgia Music Hall of Fame in 2000. She has performed at the Olympic Summer Games in Atlanta, at the White House during President Bill Clinton’s inauguration and in Italy with Luciano Pavarotti at the Maestro’s request. She has performed at both the 2007 World Series and the 2008 Daytona 500.
Recently, in an unexpected twist, Trisha turned her favorite hobby – cooking – into a family project by collaborating with her mom Gwen and sister Beth on two hugely successful cookbooks full of anecdotes, family recipes and photos from the Yearwood clan. The first was “Georgia Cooking in an Oklahoma Kitchen,” which debuted on the New York Times Bestseller list in April 2008, where it remained for five weeks, then returned again in September 2008 as Trisha appeared on the cover of Redbook Magazine. Her second effort, “Home Cooking With Trisha Yearwood,” was a return to form in April 2010, featuring heartwarming stories and hearty comfort food recipes. Amidst a blitz of media appearances, her second turn as a Redbook Magazine cover girl in two years and a cross-country book tour, Trisha celebrated another debut on the New York Times Bestseller list when Home Cooking hit the chart and remained for six weeks running.
Her achievements as a performer and author, and her down to earth nature, sense of humor and commitment to family have been the subject of recent cover features in Redbook Magazine (September 2008), Good Housekeeping (September 2009) and again in Redbook Magazine (April 2010). Trisha Yearwood is the national spokesperson for Campbell’s Labels For Education Program in partnership with the GRAMMY Foundation.
